Background Story:
The universe is sick. Most of humanity has escaped the sickness that has consumed earth and are living on a group of ships moving throughout space. Within the other solar systems there are other planets that are sustaining life that are NOT immune but still surviving. Through the years the government has formed groups of researchers that they have called M.O.U.R.S. Which stands for maintaining our universe research service. Mours are made up of a three man team with members who hold the position of a Storm, Armor, and a Researcher.
A Storm has elemental powers built into their suit that are used for offense. An Armor is a defensive position who is in charge of protecting the team. Lastly the Researcher stays on the ship and is in charge of mechanics, planet testing, and mapping.
The Mours job's are to determine if a colonized planets are immune or if uncolonized planets can sustain life. This is what they were trained for and think their main goal is. Unknown to these mours the government is not only searching for planets but also "Cores". "Cores" possess limitless power that can provide life and with enough cores they think they could potentially create a new world and use them for self sustaining energy. Cores are humanoids but no one really knows that, their powers are also heightened by pain or euphoria. Cores must be tested to find out if they are 'pure' or 'solid'.
Pure cores hold limitless power. Solid cores can be easily broken and useless after extensive use of their power. Testing involves blood tests, mental stimulation. A quick test that can be used to determine if a being is a core is through taste, cores mistake sour things for sweet things and are sensitive to intense temperature.
None of the Mours know their equiptment is also set up to detect cores. Secret research is being done with Cores to use their powers to create artificial barriers around worlds to protect from the sickness. Other ships have found neither worlds nor cores. They have a few old cores they are experimenting on without the knowledge of the public.
